Egini Community in Udu Local Government Area has been unanimously selected by the medical team of Rainbow Deck for the forthcoming NAS Medical Mission. Among the chief reasons for this choice is the fact that the community stands to benefit hugely from the medical outreach.

Egini is in Udu LGA of Delta State. It has a population of approximately 250,000 people, and its official language is Urhobo.

Egini is about 30minutes drive from Osubi Airport, about 30-45minutes drive from the Rainbow Deck Ankor Point considering traffic., and is about 7 minutes drive from the Ejevwu Train Station.

Members of this community are basically farmers whose major produce include palm oil, rubber, etc, mainly within the mangrove forest.

The Executive Chairman of Udu Local Government Area,
and members of Egini community were paid a courtesy visit on the 21st of August 2024 and19th September 2024 respectively to brief them of the proposed plan of the NAS medical mission to be held in Egini community on the 1st of November, 2024. A walk around the community with some of the leaders, showed how receptive and friendly members of the community are. Many of them listed their concerns which ranged from hunger to ill health, and we reassured them

There is a Primary Health Center located in the community. The scoping team that visited the facility was received by the head nurse who took the team around, whilst pointing out the strengths and weakness of the facility. Major deficiencies include inadequate staffing, poor water supply, epileptic power supply, and inadequate medication supply.

The common medical conditions treated in the Primary Health Center are severe malaria, Typhoid Fever, Diarrhoea, high blood pressure, Upper Respiratory Tract Infections, etc.

The people of Egini Community and the Primary Health Center look forward with great enthusiasm to hosting the NAS Medical Mission.
